Except for traffic offenses (which are really violations and technically not “crimes”) no criminal charge is leveled more equally against every member of society than DUII. Priests and rabbis, doctors and lawyers, career women and soccer moms, rich and poor, young and old, no one is immune. You don’t even have to be driving a car. You can be arrested for PUII (Pedaling Under the Influence), BUII (Boating Under the Influence) and, in rare cases, even SUII (Scooting Under the Influence – in a motorized wheelchair). Even though they all have common elements, the details of each individual case will make a difference in the outcome. Were sobriety tests taken or were they refused? Were statements made or was the right to remain silent invoked? Did the police adhere to the required protocols or did they skip a few inconvenient steps?
You’ll need a lawyer under any circumstances, but just like with the criminal charge, it’s the details that can make all the difference in the outcome. When you chose a DUII lawyer, chose the one who’s experienced, who cares about his clients, and who will spend the time examining the smallest details that can mean the difference between guilty and not guilty.
